Porcelain veneers are thin shells of tooth-colored porcelain that can be used to cover stains or mask concerns such as cracked, broken, or misshapen teeth. Porcelain veneers are sometimes referred to as "instant orthodontics" because they can also be applied to straighten the appearance of a crooked smile.
Teeth whitening is perhaps the most commonly desired cosmetic dental procedure at Kenmore Dental. Even the most beautiful smile can appear unhealthy or dull when teeth are stained or yellowed. A very brief consultation will allow us to determine if whitening is for you.
Professional Teeth Whitening at Kenmore Dental Associates, PLLC
There are many over-the-counter products that are designed to be used at home without the need for supervision by a dentist. However, these over-the-counter products cannot provide the same level of whitening strength as the professional-grade treatments provided at Kenmore Dental Associates, PLLC. Additionally, the products available in stores take a longer time to garner noticeable whitening.
At our Kenmore office, our teeth bleaching products have concentrations of hydrogen peroxide ranging from 25% to 40%. Teeth bleaching products sold in stores typically have concentrations of 3.5% or less. Before the bleaching product is applied by Dr. Burke or a member of our dental staff, a protective gel is applied to the gums. Whitening procedures in our office often only take one hour and only need to be repeated if the desired level of whitening is not achieved.
Whitening at Home
At our Kenmore office, our teeth bleaching products have concentrations of hydrogen peroxide up to 20%. Teeth bleaching products sold in stores typically have concentrations of 3.5% or less. In most cases, we recommend the use of custom made whitening trays for your mouth with whitening gel that is used in the trays daily for one hour over a period of 1-3 weeks, depending on the patient. After a patient has completed the whitening process they can often save the custom made tray for use in the future. Call us today at 716-874-1826 to smile brighter.
After your professional whitening appointment, you may wish to purchase whitening products from our Kenmore office. At Kenmore Dental Associates, PLLC staff can recommend the appropriate product for you to use at regular intervals to keep your smile bright.

Cosmetic Dental Bonding
Another method for changing the way teeth appear is through cosmetic dental bonding or what is called chairside composite veneers. By applying a thin coating of a tooth-colored resin composite material to teeth, we can improve the appearance of a number of cosmetic flaws. In many cases, cosmetic bonding is more affordable and just as effective as porcelain veneers, though results will not last as long.
When a tooth has been significantly damaged by a cavity, has a very large filling, has had root canal therapy or suffered trauma, a crown is often the treatment of choice. To restore functionality and appearance, and to seal the tooth from further damage, a dental crown will be placed over the entire tooth surface. Dental crowns can be made from metal, ceramic or porcelain as well as a combination of these materials. We will review the tooth location and important factors such as bite, wear on other teeth or whether a patient grinds their teeth to help in selecting the best material to use.
If a patient is missing one or more teeth but is not necessarily a good candidate for dentures or dental implants, he or she may be fitted with a dental bridge. A bridge is an artificial tooth that is held in place by a dental crown on either side of the gap created by the missing tooth. Dental bridges can be made from metal, ceramic or porcelain as well as a combination of these materials. We will review the bridge location and important factors such as bite, wear on other teeth or whether a patient grinds there teeth to help in selecting the best material to use.
At Kenmore Dental we offer both full and partial dentures to our patients. Unlike dental bridges or dental implants, dentures are a removable replacement to teeth. We use the most modern materials and methods to create our patients' dentures, so they can always be assured of a comfortable fit and the most realistic appearance.
Dental implants are titanium posts that are surgically inserted into a patient's jawbone to support permanent replacement teeth. They can be used to replace a single tooth, multiple teeth and even act as attachments to partials and dentures to help hold them in place. Implants provide very long lasting dental restorations.
Although there are still instances where a traditional amalgam or silver filling is the best choice, a majority of the time we restore teeth with tooth colored fillings. White fillings are bonded to the tooth surfaces as help to decrease tooth fractures. They are also virtually undetectable which makes your smile healthy and beautiful at the same time.
Smile Makeover or Smile Design
Many patients that come to Kenmore Dental combine a number of cosmetic dentistry procedures to achieve the ultimate in smile design. For example, a patient may choose to eliminate the "gummy" appearance of his or her smile with gum recontouring, enhance the color of their teeth with tooth whitening, make minor changes with dental bonding, or significant changes with porcelain veneers, crown, bridges or implants. To learn more about the smile makeover or smile design opportunities available to our patients, we encourage you to make an appointment to consult with Dr. Burke. You can reach us at 716-874-1826.
